Open year round we offer:

  • For Individuals: Private Retreats, Directed Retreats, Specific Theme Retreats, Days of Quiet Reflection.
  • For Groups: Facilities for retreats, workshops, or spirit-building among staff. A place apart to look at goals, direction for your group.

Medaille Retreat House, a welcoming space in North London, offers solitude, beauty and caring in a picturesque setting where participants can enjoy the beauty of nature. Six private bedrooms each with full bath facilities allows for restful overnight retreat time. Daytime events can comfortably accommodate up to 12 people.

Our retreat centre is a place that calls one to personal spiritual awakening. There are times available for personal retreats and days of quiet reflection. A Spiritual Companion will be available upon request, to journey with you these days or you may wish to provide your own resources.

We also offer opportunities for ongoing Spiritual Companioning, which is an inner listening to discover the ongoing gracious presence of the Sacred in all the events of life. Listening to hear how God is calling you to a deeper relationship with self, God and others.

January 26-30

“Days of Stillness”
We invite you to explore the peacefulness of standing back from busyness in order to ‘be still’. In an atmosphere of attentive care, let your spirit be renewed and refreshed with new life. Come for one, two or all of these days. Spiritual Companioning is available upon request at the time of registration. Please contact us for more information regarding availability, registration and fees.

February 28

“Befriending the Gift and Passion of Anger” Retreat Day. Input, reflection and optional sharing will help to put this powerful emotion within the context of prayer. Facilitator is Kathleen Lichti, CSJ; Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; $45 (includes refreshments and lunch).

March 13-15

For Women in Recovery: “A Retreat in 12-Step Spirituality” This silent retreat is for those already in a recovery program such as AA, Al-Anon, NA, Narc-Anon, etc. Facilitator is Mildred Frank. Friday 7:00 p.m. to Sunday 1:00 p.m.; $195.

March 14

For Women in Recovery: “A Retreat in 12-Step Spirituality” In conjunction with the above weekend retreat we welcome additional participants for one day of retreat. Facilitator is Mildred Frank. Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.; $125 (includes refreshments, lunch and supper).

March 17

Lenten Day of Prayer Come and revisit the meaning that Lent can have when we embrace a wider world view that we all belong to something, SOMEONE greater than ourselves. Perhaps “giving up” can mean fully embracing who we really are. Facilitator is Kathleen Lichti, CSJ; Tuesday 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; $45 (includes refreshments and lunch).

March 21

“Finding God in the Workplace” Day of Prayer Participants will be invited to explore how the ordinary situations in the workplace can reveal the extraordinary in their relationships with God, self and others. Facilitators are Patricia Baldwin and Kathleen Lichti, CSJ; Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; $55 (includes refreshments and lunch).

March 23-27

March 28

“Praying with Music” Retreat Day Back by popular demand, this day will be a time for participants to experience the way(s) in which music can unleash one’s yearning to have a deeper connection with God. Facilitator is Kathleen Lichti, CSJ; Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; $45 (includes refreshments and lunch).

April 17-19

“Dancing with the Divine” Retreat Day “Come, dance with me,” God says, and we do, sometimes in step and other times not. Although there will be no actual dancing taking place, participants are invited to spend this day in exploring how the dance of life can be oh so delightful, when it is done with the Divine Partner. Facilitators are Carol Brady-Zinn and Kathleen Lichti, CSJ; Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; $55 (includes refreshments and lunch).

April 27-May 1

“Called to Be An Ordinary Mystic” Retreat Day This day will be a basic introduction to anyone desiring to take/make the time to appreciate the universal call to be a mystic in the midst of a very busy life, i.e to be a “contemplative in action”. Facilitator is Kathleen Lichti, CSJ; Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; $45 (includes refreshments and lunch).

May 23

“Exploring Silence and Space in Daily Life for Busy Women” Retreat Day. This day will involve experiential exercises, meditation, poetry, time with nature, a labyrinth walk and some sharing to bring us into a direct experience of the silence and space that is within and around us at any moment. Facilitator is Helen Battler; Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; $50.00 (includes refreshments and lunch).

“In the Shadow Let There Be Light” Retreat Day. This day of reflection is for anyone touched by mental illness in themselves or in a loved one. It is a day to pray and reflect on mercy, peace and hope. It is a time to share our questions and what we have discovered about God on this journey. Facilitator is Cathie Gauthier; Saturday 9:00 a.m to 3:30 p.m.; $50 (includes refreshments and lunch).

Silent Retreat Silence is a key element when nurturing one’s relationship to God, self and others. We invite you to come and listen to what God is saying to you in the silence. “The Amazing Gift of God’s Presence” Guided Retreat. This Guided Retreat is a time to “Come aside and rest a while” - to let go of our everyday concerns in order to place ourselves in a state of attentive awareness to the Presence of God in which “we live and move and have our being.” There will be input once daily, a daily prayer ritual, as well as the opportunity to speak with the director at least once during the retreat if you wish. Facilitator is Suzanne Chevalier, CSJ; Sunday 7:00 p.m. to Saturday 10:00 a.m.; $500 (includes overnight accommodations, all refreshments and meals).

“Creativity, Desire and Being” Retreat Day. Art, movement and poetry serve as both conduit and container of Spirit, the source of all desire. Through a gentle, prayerful process, contemplate desire as an opening to a way of being . . . infused with aliveness. There will be some sharing of experience. No previous artistic background required. Come wearing loose, casual clothing. Facilitator is Barb Billey; Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; $50 (includes refreshments and lunch). “Transform Our Thinking, Transform Our World” Retreat Day. “How can I do my part in affecting positively, a world stuck in mistrust, hatred and violence?” “What can one person do?” “Is a gentler, more peaceful world possible?” You are invited to a day that will include time for personal prayer, as well as time for personal and communal reflection over these concerns. Facilitator is Suzanne Chevalier, CSJ; Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; $45 (includes refreshments and lunch).

November 14

“Praying Our Losses” Retreat Day. This day of prayer, for anyone experiencing the loss of a significant person, will consist of gentle input, reflection time and optional sharing. Facilitator is Angela MacDonald; Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; $50 (includes refreshments and lunch).

For Men In Recovery: “A Retreat in 12-Step Spirituality. This retreat will focus on the power of the Spirituality of the 12-Step Program. The weekend will include input, silence and opportunity for sharing. Facilitator is Jeff Wilbee. Friday 7:00 p.m. to Sunday 1:00 p.m.; $195 (private accommodations), $170 (shared accommodations); $130 (commuters).

December 5

“Twilight Advent Retreat” An evening of reflection in which to remember who Jesus is for us, and to prepare our hearts once again to celebrate the gift he is for our lives. Facilitator is Suzanne Chevalier, CSJ; Saturday 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.; $20 (includes refreshments).

December 31

New Year’s Eve We need to reflect upon our lives if we wish our spiritual journey to be fruitful. During this evening we will take time to be grateful as we reflect upon and let go of the past year, as well as open ourselves with hope to the grace of a new beginning for the year 2009. Facilitator is Suzanne Chevalier, CSJ; Thursday 8:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.; $25 (includes refreshments).
